Reproductive system in Human biology lessons at secondary school
NAVRÁTILOVÁ, Adéla
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of teaching the human reproductive system at secondary schools both in the Czech Republic and in selected German federal states, Bavaria and Saxony. The aim was first to discover the differences in teaching the reproductive system among the chosen countries and secondly to create own teaching units regarding this topic and utilize them in classes. The differences between Czech, Saxon, and Bavarian types of teaching were supported by curricular documents and a questionnaire distributed among teachers from selected countries. Czech curricular documents outline the teaching of the reproductive system more briefly compared to the German ones. The questionnaire provided specific information incorporating the methods used in teaching. Furthermore, this diploma thesis contains two fully designed teaching units, including both materials for students and methodological instructions for teachers. The practical implementation of the proposed teaching units is evaluated at the very end of this thesis.

Pupils' mobility at Prague grammar schools from the teachers' perspective
Rokosová, Anna ; Kohoutek, Jan (advisor) ; Veselý, Arnošt (referee)
In this thesis I deal with the issue of pupil mobility through a case study of selected grammar schools in Prague. Here I focus mainly on a deeper examination of teachers' attitudes to grammar school leaving, their insights and causes of departures or their consequences. I also try to focus on the preventive measures of the schools and the function of the teacher as an actor of prevention and intervention. Last but not least, I am interested in teachers' awareness of the issue of pupils' leaving the grammar schools. I will analyse the data that I obtain through qualitative questioning and look for answers to my research questions. In order to get a more detailed view of the issue, in my work I use the technique of semi-structured interviews with five teachers from Prague grammar schools. I analyse this data and interpret the results. The main benefit of my work is enabling a more detailed insight into the issue of pupil mobility. This can contribute to further research and the creation of new measures. Teachers' views on the issue are diverse. They differ either in terms of the causes or consequences of pupils' departures, the importance of preventive measures or in terms of the role of the family. I divided the statements that answer my research questions into categories according to similarity...

Efficiency Analysis of Grammar Schools in the Czech Republic
Červenková, Kateřina ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Rusnák, Marek (referee)
This thesis aims to assess the technical efficiency of grammar schools in the Czech Republic. We analyze a sample of 263 grammar schools (out of 362) and use data of cohort that graduated in 2012. We adopt a two-stage approach to efficiency analysis. In the first stage, efficiency scores are obtained through the data envelopment analysis under different returns to scale assumptions. The average efficiency of Czech grammar schools is 92% if variable returns to scale are considered. In the second stage, the efficiency is related to school and environmental characteristics using a Tobit regression. Our results suggest that the percentage of female students has a positive effect on efficiency as well as the school size and the share of students attending the 6 or 8 year study program. On the contrary, schools offering a vocational program along with a grammar school program are found to be less efficient. We have not found evidence that the share of not qualified teachers, yearly salary per teacher, state/private status, size of the town in which a school is located or any other environmental variable affect efficiency. 1
